Parkroyal on Beach Road

Formerly known as The Plaza, the Parkroyal is just across from the color and great restaurants of Arab Street and Kampong Glam. It's 15 minutes' walk to the MRT (subway), so you'll need to take buses or taxis just about everywhere else -- but the trade-off is that if you stick around, you can take advantage of the attractive recreation and relaxation facilities, which include a huge swimming pool and a lovely sun deck decorated in a lazy-days Balinese-style tropical motif, and a Bali-themed poolside cafe, cooled by ceiling fans. Two gyms to the side have plenty of space and new equipment, but the most exquisite facility of all is the exotic Bali-inspired spa. Other hotel facilities include outdoor and indoor Jacuzzis, a sauna, and a steam room.
