Frommer's Review
The Orchard Hotel, with its wonderful attached shopping mall, provides accommodations for leisure and business travelers in two wings. The main lobby, in Mediterranean flair, has a giant central clock with wrought iron detail and seating beneath. Between the lobby lounge to the left and coffee shop to the right, the place always feels energized. Lower-priced rooms in the older Orchard Wing were renovated in 2005, and are contemporary with touches of Asian style, such as the glass headboards etched in Oriental design. Though small, guest rooms have state-of-the-art fixtures like adjustable bedside reading lamps and huge flatscreen TVs. A round window peers into the bathroom, which shines in white marble and chrome. The Claymore Wing houses deluxe rooms in comfortable contemporary style, with large glass desktops, rosewood bed stands, and fabrics and carpeting in neutral tones. The staff is friendly and always greets you with a smile.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
