Frommer's Review
Set on an immaculate white-sand beach fringed with coconut palms, Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort is Singapore's only true beachfront hotel. It's frequented by Singaporeans looking to get away from it all, but as a visitor to Singapore you may find it isolated from the city's attractions. Still, you can always take advantage of the resort's complimentary shuttle service for trips to the action, only to return to the serenity of the resort at the end of a busy day.
Great outdoor activities make the Rasa Sentosa particularly attractive. The resort's extensive recreational facilities, including a sea-sports center, offer windsurfing, sailing, and paddle skiing. Other facilities include a large outdoor free-form swimming pool, a jogging track, aqua bike rentals, an outdoor Jacuzzi, and a fully equipped spa with gym, sauna, body and facial treatments, hydromassage, and massage therapies. The hotel also organizes nature walks, cycling tours, rock-wall climbing, and beach volleyball. For children, there is a separate pool with water slides (no lifeguard, though), a playground, a nursery, and a video arcade.
As for the rooms, the decision between whether to take the hill-view room or the slightly more expensive sea-facing room is a no-brainer: The view of the sea is exceptional, and if you don't go for it, you'll be missing out on glorious mornings, throwing back the curtains, and taking in the view from the balcony.
