Frommer's Review
SHA Villa is an interesting pick. Formerly the Regalis Court, this charming colonial-style mansion has been restored beautifully and outfitted with Peranakan-inspired touches. Everything here will make you feel as if you're staying in a quaint guesthouse rather than a hotel, from the open-air lobby (under the porte-cochere) and corridors to the guest rooms, which have comforting touches like teakwood furnishings, textile wall hangings, Oriental throws over wooden floors, and bamboo blinds to keep out the sun. What makes this place truly unique is its management. SHA stands for Singapore Hotel Association -- this property serves as a training ground for hospitality service staff, from bellhops to chefs. Everyone is eager to please because, well, they're being graded. Centrally located just a 10-minute walk from Orchard Road and with an excellent Western restaurant, you can't go wrong here.
