Kokanee Café

This out-of-the-way place, located about 14 miles west of Sisters and adjacent to the Metolius River Resort in Camp Sherman, is one of the best restaurants in the region. The interior of the cedar-shingled building is contemporary rustic with an open-beamed ceiling and a wrought-iron chandelier, and out back there's a deck under the ponderosa pines. The menu is short and almost always includes some sort of fresh rainbow trout entree, as well as such interesting dishes as duck breast with blood orange-chili glaze. There are also daily specials, often seafood prepared in whatever style is currently the rage. Lots of reasonably priced wines are available by the bottle or glass, with the emphasis on Oregon wines.
