Frommer's Review
Many of the rooms in this friendly hotel -- nestled in a medieval district next to the new modern art museum -- are quite large and have a 1970s artist's loft feel, with good use of available space and mismatched but tasteful furnishings (though the new owners are replacing most with antique-style pieces). Rough-hewn chestnut-beam ceilings mirror the wood-plank floors (some are carpeted), and the walls are hung with modern art prints and original works. The firm beds are spread with Black Watch plaid coverlets. If you're feeling particularly hedonistic, you can cough up 10€ ($13) for a trip to the basement sauna, or just cozy up on a cushy sofa before the wintertime fire crackling between the TV and sitting lounges. The room TVs come with VCRs, and the front desk always has a movie or two in English. They also organize all sorts of specialized tours (cooking classes, horseback rides, truffle hunts, and so on).
Facilities:
Sauna; bike rental; concierge; tour desk; car-rental desk; 24-hr. room service (breakfast and bar); massage; babysitting; laundry service; same-day dry cleaning; nonsmoking units

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
