Frommer's Review
Spoleto's most stratospheric hotel is a clutch of 17th-century buildings clinging to the cliff behind the rocca -- isolated and surrounded by nature but still only a 3-minute stroll from the Duomo. It was formerly an artist's home, and its interiors were remodeled to maximize views of the valley and the remarkable 14th-century arched bridge nearby. Most of the wood-floored accommodations have plenty of elbowroom, and while the styling dates from the hotel's birth in the 1960s, it has aged well. The superior rooms have large picture windows, big bathrooms with tubs, and often a dais separating the beds from the sofa-and-desk living area. The standard rooms aren't as large or well appointed but are still recommendable. The small terrace off the conference room overlooks the full splendor of the bridge, and terraced gardens off the other end of the buildings, where the view, alas, is marred by a highway.
