Little is left from the time when this 19th-century palazzo was a firehouse. But the Tomassoni family's welcome augments the comfort and warmth of the public area's fireplace, beam ceilings, and gold-plaster walls. To accommodate disparate tastes, some guest rooms were left in "standard" style, with stylish contemporary furnishings in warm pastel colors, while 10 were refitted, in 2001, as "camere in stile," or "old-style rooms." Request one of the latter and you'll get parquet or terra-cotta floors, antique iron beds and sconces, armoires, and rough-hewn ceiling beams. All have new bathrooms but only 15 of the standard-style rooms offer a handsome view over the Vale Spoletino. The friendly Tomassoni brothers, Francesco and Filippo, really put themselves out for guests.
