As this is a family vacation spot, the after-dark scene is a little sparse. Nights at the Grand Casino, square de Grand (tel. 04-98-11-17-77), feature slot machines and gambling, plus a nightly dance party in summer with an upbeat orchestra. The slot machines are open daily from 11am to 4am; gambling begins at 8pm, and the dance club opens at 10pm. In summer, the entire place stays open to 5am.
One of our favorite bars is Le Coco Club, Port Santa Lucia (tel. 04-98-12-62-13; www.coco-club.fr), open Wednesday to Sunday only, where live music and stiff drinks contribute to a kind of gregarious, often flirtatious conviviality. Alternative choices include La Réserve (tel. 04-94-95-02-02), a popular disco with a punk-rock crowd between 16 and 25. Gay men and women tend to congregate at Le Ganesh Pub, 16 rue Charabois (tel. 06-10-21-08-89), where disco music and a long-standing reputation as a dance palace can be animated and fun for everyone.
