Frommer's Review
This restaurant is one of the culinary staples of the island, having survived for many years, thanks to a straightforward and unpretentious ambience that focuses on good cooking, generous portions, and an utter lack of snobbery. Set one floor above street level, in the center of town, it features a neocolonial decor with models of sailboats, antique accessories, and flavorful cuisine. Appetizers are a delight, featuring such treats as creamy Caribbean pumpkin soup with a vanilla flavor or a tarte with nuts and honey. A homemade duck foie gras adds an elegant touch. Fresh seafood is always a good choice; specialties include sautéed scallops in a lime sauce and shrimp dumplings with Caribbean vegetables. Meat and poultry are also treated with tender loving care, especially the breast of honey-roasted duck and the very typical island dish -- goat stew with bananas au gratin.
