Le Gaïac ReviewThis swooningly romantic restaurant is for folks who want to dine among the rich and famous at Le Toiny -- St. Barts's most expensive hotel -- but aren't willing to mortgage their futures for a room. Guests dine in an open-air pavilion adjacent to the resort's infinity pool, with a view that sweeps out over the wide blue sea. Lunchtime menu items -- perhaps ravioli with red pepper and goat cheese -- are simple yet exquisitely prepared, and the sumptuous all-you-can-eat Sunday champagne brunch (43€/$64) is a must. Top examples include lacquered lime filet of grouper with local bananas; rack and saddle of lamb breaded with shredded coconut and spices; veal chop spiked with black truffle and baked in sea salt; and ricotta and Portobello tortellini served in a marjoram broth. The first-rate cuisine, setting, and service make for a truly memorable meal. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
