Set on a dramatic promontory above the ocean, this full-service hotel offers views of St. Martin and nearby islets. It has a French-colonial decor and a low-rise design that incorporates four slate-roofed, white-sided buildings arranged in a semicircle above a rocky coastline. The hotel is not adjacent to the water; guests must drive about 10 minutes to reach a good beach, Plage de l'Orient. Most of the resort's activities revolve around the swimming pool. The roomy accommodations, with king-size and twin beds, fall into two categories: deluxe oceanfront with patio or deluxe ocean view with terrace. All are furnished in a West Indian style and have ceiling fans. The differences between the two categories of rooms are most pronounced in the bathrooms. The oceanfront rooms have separate tub/shower combinations, while the rooms opening onto the gardens contain showers only. The resort's pool, a 370-sq.-m (4,359-sq.-ft.) pair of interconnected ovals with a bridge, is the largest on the island.

Le Mango, a poolside daytime restaurant, specializes in light fare. In the evening, more formal French and Creole meals are served at Taino.
