Frommer's Review

Better equipped than its nearest rival, Hôtel Manapany Cottages , this is the largest hotel on St. Barts, opening onto two scenic beaches. It and the Sofitel Christopher are the most commercial properties on island. Isolated in the northeast part of the island, this hotel on its own peninsula is spread over 6.4 steeply sloping hectares (16 acres), dotted with a network of 68 Lilliputian cottages trimmed in gingerbread and painted in bold tropical colors. Don't consider this place if you have mobility problems or just don't relish the idea of huffing up and down steep slopes. But if that's not a problem, the views over the sea from each unit are broad and sweeping. Most units, at least those on the resort's upper slopes, are self-contained in their own individual cottages. Some of the bungalows closest to the beach, a private white-sand strip on a reef-protected bay, contain two units each. Traditional and contemporary-style desks and tables, tasteful upholstery, and four-poster king-size beds spell deluxe living, as do the fine linen and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are brightly tiled with showers only. Each of the accommodations has a private patio. In 2005 the resort underwent major restoration, blossoming out in a trendy lime-and-plum theme. An eight-room spa facility was integrated discreetly into the bungalow village. A hammam, lily pond, Indonesian-style daybed, and swimming pool were added to the spa's package of goodies.

Light lunches are served at Indigo, an airy venue positioned between the swimming pool and the sea. More formal dinners are available at Bartoloméo Restaurant. In summertime both lunch and dinner are served at Indigo.
