King's Alley Hotel ReviewThis inn, restored in 2007, stands at water's edge, near Christiansted Harbor's yacht basin. We like the atmosphere of the Alley much better than its neighbor, the King Christian Hotel. Although short on amenities, this is one of our favorites in town. More charm. Better decor. More inviting ambience -- a real St. Croix feeling. The King's Alley is furnished with a distinctly Mediterranean flair. Many of its rooms -- which are small to medium-size -- overlook its courtyard terrace surrounded by tropical plants. All rooms have twin or king-size beds with good mattresses, and the deluxe units have four-poster mahogany beds. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
