Frommer's Review
On 8 lush acres in St. Croix's forest, these well-landscaped and well-maintained campgrounds lie about a 10-minute drive north of Frederiksted. A beautiful beach of white sands and the Sunset Grill restaurant lie only a 2-mile drive down the hill. The grounds are the creation of hosts Bruce and Mathilde Wilson, who are perhaps the most knowledgeable of all islanders about their area's flora and fauna. This is the ideal choice for an adventurous family or group looking to stay close to nature but still have countless organized activities available.
Five open-to-the-breezes dwellings accommodate four to six adults each, or you can indulge in tent camping -- but bring your own gear. Handcrafted, eco-friendly dwellings are equipped with furnishings crafted from tropical hardwood. There are basic cooking and eating facilities in each unit and all guests have use of the immaculately kept bathhouse with flush toilets and an open-air shower with solar-heated water. Communal events are staged, including campfires and a Sunday-afternoon pig roast. On the grounds is a vegetable and herb garden, a tropical fruit orchard, even a tortoise colony. Outdoor activities include hiking in the rainforest, horseback rides, kayaking, and fishing.
