Frommer's Review
For years this property was operated as the Cormorant Beach Club, attracting a gay clientele from all over the world. This seven-acre tropical beachfront property was purchased by resident owners in October 2007 and it is no longer gay-owned, but still attracts a large number of gay men, and "wedding ceremony" packages are still offered. Even so, the resort is much more diverse today and has been improved with new furnishings and an upgraded decor. The property is designed in a boxy, modern-looking series of rectangles, with strong horizontal lines and outcroppings of exposed natural stone. It strikes a pleasant balance between seclusion and accessibility. Long Reef lies a few hundred feet offshore from the resort's sandy beachfront. Bedrooms contain a restrained decor of cane and wicker furniture, spacious bathrooms with tubs and showers, and sliding-glass doors that flood the interior with sunlight.
The social life revolves around an open-air clubhouse, with views of the sea. Off the central core is the bar and airy dining room of Elizabeth's, which also doubles as a great spot for after-hours drinks.
