Frommer's Review
On the southern shore, on the site of a now defunct Club Med, and close to Hewanorra Airport, this sprawling oceanfront resort has burst on the scene with a splash. Splash is the right word, as this all-inclusive features a water park with two 4-story high waterslides, and even an activity pool with massage jets and waterfalls. Not only that, but a lazy 230m (750-ft.) stream runs sleepily through the property.
Unlike some resorts, Coconut Bay welcomes singles, couples (of all persuasions), and families. When not frolicking in the water park, you can take your vows in an Oceanside gazebo, or else enjoy oceanfront treatment rooms, even water aerobics. This is not a sleepy retreat: there is an array of constant activities, including nightly entertainment from local bands.
Spanning 34 lushly planted hectares (85 acres), Coconut Bay is aptly named, as it is fringed with coconut palms, opening onto Savannes Bay. Rooms are among the finest on island, each with at least a partial ocean view (those on the fourth floor have unobstructed vistas). Units come with separate sitting areas and a private balcony. The cuisine is among the most varied on island, including Asian and Italian specialties and buffets for three meals a day. There's even a beachside grill, and tropical drinks and fruit juices are served all over the property, even at a swim-up bar.
