Hotell Kung Carl Review"The staff is kindly and caring," a Swedish habitué of this place told us, "and the hotel is always reliable, tastefully furnished, and fairly priced." What more could you ask for? Excitement? (No way.) Discreet, tasteful, and quietly glamorous, this hotel in the heart of Stockholm was built in the mid-1800s by a religious group that offered lodgings to women newly arrived in Stockholm from the countryside. It's one of the longest-operating hotels in the city, and despite being elevated to four-star government status thanks to many improvements, it retains an old-fashioned charm. The midsize-to-spacious bedrooms are furnished in a comfortable but slightly dated style. There's no restaurant on the premises, but the lobby bar sells pizza and sandwiches. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
