Born in Milan, Lombardian Gabriele de Gaetano has brought the flavors of his homeland to remote Tobago and has infused the island with marvelous change-of-pace dining. The eatery is casual yet elegant, with lots of color used along with local artwork. The island's most gracious host, Gaetano "table hops," always concerned about your welfare and whether or not you like his food. Diners almost invariably tell him how tasty and flavorful his Italian-inspired cuisine is. Perhaps he can't find all the authentic ingredients needed for his food, but he succeeds admirably nonetheless. His ravioli won our hearts until we tasted his tagliatelle with lobster, made all the tastier with the use of Trinidadian capers in wine and fresh cream. For a main course, we heartily endorse the mixed seafood grill of lobster, shrimp, and calamari among other delights. Many of the dishes will appeal to the vegetarian in all of us. Desserts are homemade fresh daily and are luscious. Everything is backed up by the best wine carte on the island.
