Frommer's Review
In 1994, the first hotel in Todi's historic center opened its doors on a successful melding of modern architectural glass and wood elements with a 13th-century palazzo. The public spaces are particularly evocative, with lots of low brick vaulting in the bar, breakfast and dining rooms, and reading and TV lounges. In summer, breakfast is served in a nook of the huge palm-shaded terrace that sits atop the hotel's 17th-century namesake fountain. The standard rooms are carpeted and wallpapered in textured creams, and have command-center headboards, pleasantly unassuming dark-wood furniture, and matching fabrics on the chairs, bedspreads, and curtains. Each of the suites has a small balcony or terrace and is unique -- and worth the splurge, especially when the high-season cost of a double brings the prices close. The "Novecento" has 19th-century antiques, the "Jacopone" Wassily chairs and a claw-foot tub, and the "Venturini" a canopy bed.
