Just southeast of Sensoji Temple, Kuremutsu is actually a tiny, traditional house tucked behind a bamboo fence and an inviting courtyard with willow and maple trees, a millstone covered with moss, and an entrance invitingly lit with lanterns. Inside, it's like a farmhouse in the countryside filled with farm implements, old chests, masks, cast-iron teakettles, hibachi, and other odds and ends. Traditionally dressed to match the mood, waitresses serve one of three kaiseki meals.
