Ballyseede Castle Hotel Review
This 15th-century castle 3km (2 miles) east of Tralee comes complete with a live-in ghost and was once the chief garrison of the Fitzgeralds, the earls of Desmond. A hotel for 20 years, it has a marvelously regal look. The lobby has Doric columns and a hand-carved oak staircase, while drawing rooms have ornate plasterwork and marble fireplaces. Guest rooms are a mixed bag -- some are elegantly appointed, others are a bit old-fashioned and faded. With wood paneling and a towering alcohol cabinet, the Library Bar is impressive.
