Tohono Chul Tea Room ReviewLocated in a brick territorial-style building in Tohono Chul Park, this is one of the most tranquil restaurants in the city, and the garden setting provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the desert. As often as possible, ingredients are local and organic, and before or after lunching on posole (a Mexican stew), lobster macaroni and cheese, or a Sonoran BLT, you can wander through the park and admire the many species of cacti. Be sure to ask for a table on the patio, which is surrounded by gardens that attract numerous bird species. Unfortunately, because service here can be frustratingly slow, you might spend more time bird-watching than you had anticipated. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
