This lodge in the shady depths of Madera Canyon is used almost exclusively by bird-watchers and hikers, and getting a room in late spring, when the birds are out, can be difficult. March through August, the lodge even offers guided bird walks ($20 per person). The rooms and cabins are large and comfortable. The nearest restaurants are 13 miles away, so you should bring food for your stay.
