The dining room of this celebrated restaurant/hotel offers spectacular waterfront views of Sooke Harbour, a relaxed atmosphere, and some of Canada's best and most inventive food. Dishes on the daily-changing, seasonally adjusted menu are prepared with care, imagination, and flair. Ingredients are resolutely local (many come from the inn's own organic garden or from the ocean at the Harbour House's doorstep). Depending on the season, dishes might include grilled flounder with hazelnut, arugula and cheese pesto or grilled pork tenderloin with a red-wine meat stock reduction and dried cherry and thyme compote. The presentation is always interesting, and the staff is knowledgeable and professional. The wine cellar is one of the best in Canada, and the pairings are particularly well chosen. Instead of the four-course set menu, for the most memorable meal, and the best of everything, order the Gastronomical Menu.
