What was once a Victorian power station is now one of Victoria's loveliest and liveliest brewpub restaurants, with an outdoor patio overlooking the harbor toward the Johnson Street Bridge and an industrial-inspired interior with massive masonry walls and heavy timber crossbeams. Canoe is popular because it basically has something for every palate and everything is very tasty. The kitchen offers intriguing variations on standard pub fare and bar snacks, including thin-crust pizzas (but with grilled lamb or chile prawns) and classic burgers. Head upstairs for finer fare such as premium top sirloin steak or seafood curry masala. The beer is excellent, and the award-winning wine list is small but select.
