Frommer's Review
When this seaside boutique hotel opened in May 2007, it brought a splash of stylish (but low-key) glamour to Sidney's waterfront (the Vancouver and Anacortes ferry terminals are less than 5 min. away and there's a marina for private boats). Using calm colors, local materials, and lots of glass, the hotel's interior spaces reflect the surrounding maritime environment, while its street-side cafe and inviting bar and restaurant, both spilling out onto patios in good weather, are nicely incorporated into Sidney's urban/ocean scene. The guest rooms are well designed and comfortable, with calm, minimalist interiors and a refreshing lack of froufrou. Most of the rooms have ocean views; the suites have balconies, fireplaces, and connect with adjoining rooms, making them very family-friendly. Bathrooms are equally well designed, some with showers only, others with soaker tubs and walk-in showers. Haro's, the hotel's restaurant, serves deliciously fresh area specialties, including salads, fish, and lamb. And to top it all off is Haven Spa, where all manner of rejuvenating and refreshing treatments are available, including seaweed wraps, massages, facials, and manicures. A winner all-around.
