In addition to the hotels listed here, plenty of rental homes are available in Yachats. Contact Ocean Odyssey, 261 N. U.S. 101 (P.O. Box 491), Yachats, OR 97498 (tel. 800/800-1915 or 541/547-3637; www.ocean-odyssey.com), or Yachats Village Rentals, 230 Aqua Vista Loop (P.O. Box 44), Yachats, OR 97498 (tel. 888/288-5077 or 541/547-3501; www.97498.com). Rates for most vacation homes range from around $125 to $225 per night.
Campgrounds
Beachside State Recreation Site (tel. 541/265-9278) is just north of Yachats on U.S. 101, but I don't particularly recommend it. To make reservations, contact ReserveAmerica (tel. 800/452-5687; www.reserveamerica.com). For exploring the rugged Cape Perpetua area, the Forest Service's Cape Perpetua Campground, in a wooded setting set a little way back from the water, is your best option.
South of Yachats
Campgrounds -- Just south of Cape Perpetua, there are a couple of campgrounds within Siuslaw National Forest. Rock Creek Campground (tel. 541/547-3289; www.fs.fed.us/r6/siuslaw) is tucked back in the woods along a pretty creek and is a good choice for tenters and anyone who dislikes crowds. Carl G. Washburne Memorial State Park (tel. 800/551-6949 or 541/547-3416; www.oregonstateparks.org) is the area's state park option and is one of only a few coastal state parks that do not take reservations (although you can reserve a yurt here). Campsites are across the highway from a pretty beach just north of Heceta Head.
