Frommer's Review
The Limmat is one of the most durable of the cost-conscious hotels of downtown Zurich. The hotel occupies part of a four-story building erected in 1935 in the Bauhaus style as a convention center, and whose boxy-looking facade is today protected as a historic monument. You can expect more here than just a place to stay: Its management, in place since 1997, is one of the largest organizers of rock-'n'-roll concerts in Switzerland, often staging their acts in the cavernous restaurant and nightclub that occupies the ground floor. Consequently, members of the bands that play here are often in residence, a policy that adds to the cachet of the place for counterculture rock-'n'-roll enthusiasts across Switzerland. (Hotel guests receive a 15F ($12/£6.25) discount off their admission to the nightclub.) Accommodations are streamlined, partially paneled, and outfitted in a style reminiscent of Danish modern.
Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; cafe w/outdoor terrace; nightclub; discounted admission at a nearby health club; self-service laundry
