Golf--C.P. Willimon owns and designed Bonnie Brae Golf Club, 1316 Fork Shoals Rd. (tel. 864/277-9838). The 6,484-yard course is a par-72, offering Bermuda greens and fairways. The greens fees are $17 Monday to Thursday, $29 on Friday, and $26 on Saturday and Sunday. Carts rent for $10 for 18 holes. Hours are daily from sunrise to sunset.
A nine-hole option is the Donaldson Golf Club, 1074 Perimeter Rd. (tel. 864/277-8414). Originally part of Donaldson Air Force Base, this public facility offers three par-36 courses: the 3,197-yard Blue course, the 3,050-yard White course, and the 2,799-yard Red course. Greens fees are $10 Monday to Friday and $15 Saturday and Sunday. Hours are daily dawn to dusk. Cart rentals are $9 per nine holes.
Verdae Green Golf Course, 650 Verdae Blvd. (tel. 803/676-1500), is an 18-hole, 6,757-yard, par-72 course. Set in a pine forest, the Penncross Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairway were designed by Willard C. Byrd and Associates. Greens fees are $32 (without cart) Sunday to Friday and $45 on Saturdays. Carts rent for an additional $15, and are mandatory on Saturday and Sunday to speed play. Hours are daily 7am to 7pm.
