Malbork's pièce de résistance is the jaw-dropping Teutonic Knights castle, the biggest brick castle in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle will effortlessly convert anyone into a devout fan of knights and Gothic grandeur. Malbork is only an hour's drive from Gdansk, so it works perfectly as a day trip. Or you can time your visit with one of the numerous festivals held at the castle. The main ones are the July's Siege of Malbork (a reenactment of the 1410 Battle of Grünwald) and August's Magic Malbork (an impressive display of acrobatics and fireworks). You'll find schedule of events at www.visitmalbork.pl. Summer is the busiest period, but Malbork Castle makes an atmospheric sojourn into the medieval epoch any time of year.
