In Oklahoma City, two historic hotels completed major renovations in 2006. The oldest in the state, the Skirvin Hotel, 1 Park Ave. (tel. 800/HILTONS; www.skirvinhilton.com), entered into a partnership with Marcus Hotels and Resorts, which resulted in a $51.3-million restoration, with a concentration on remaining historically faithful to the building's original 1911 architecture, as well as modern amenities like high-definition TVs in guestrooms, fitness and business centers, and wireless Internet access. The other what's-old-is-new site in Oklahoma City is the Colcord Hotel, 15 N. Robinson (tel. 866/781-3800; www.colcordhotel.com). Built in 1910, it was the first skyscraper (12 stories) in Oklahoma City, and many of the old details were preserved, like the antique chandeliers, marble and granite accents, and silver elevator doors, but the rooms now have a slightly spare yet warm postmodern feel.
