Getting There -- To get to South County from Providence or Boston, take I-95 south, leaving it at exit 9 to pick up Route 4, also a limited-access highway. This merges with Route 1, arriving in Narragansett in about 20 miles. Turn east on Route 1A for a few miles to reach Narragansett Pier. From Newport, cross the Newport and Jamestown bridges on Route 138 to Route 1A south, and follow it to Narragansett, the center of South County's beach country. It is 14 miles west of Newport.
