Heather Jasper

Heather Jasper is a travel writer based in Cusco, Peru since 2019. Her writing has been featured in Frommer’s, BBC Travel, Fodor’s Travel, Rough Guides, Insight Guides, Horizon Guides, Lonely Planet, Matador Network, Luxury Latin America, Atlas Obscura, Ori Magazine, Business Insider and many more. She is the author of Peru’s Best, the first travel guide app for Peru.

Her writing now focuses on experiences as a solo female traveler Peru, Chile and Argentina but she has traveled around over thirty more countries since her first solo trip to Europe in 1999. She stopped counting countries during the pandemic and is now counting the regions of Peru. She will finish visiting Peru’s 24 regions in 2026 and will then start checking off Argentina’s 23 provinces and Chile’s 16 regions.

Heather has always preferred window seats on all flights so she can take photos of landscapes and cityscapes from the air. She is originally from Seattle and lived in five states in the US before moving to France, Morocco, Türkiye, Bangladesh and now Peru. Before devoting herself full time to writing she taught French and Spanish for twelve years and has a master’s degree in education from Boise State University.
