Al Ain Oasis
The city's largest of seven oases lies next to the town center, between the main souk area and Al Ain Street. It's home to date palm plantations, some of which are working farms. You can see the ancient Arabian falaj irrigation system, in which horizontal underground tunnels are connected to the surface by vertical shafts. Narrow roads on which you can walk or drive lead through the tranquil oasis, and you should stick to the pavement when viewing the palm plantations. Entrance is restricted to those who own land in the oasis and foreign travelers.
