Planning a trip to Alicante

Alicante’s Internacional El Altet Airport (tel. 96-691-90-00) is 19km (12 miles) from the city. More than a dozen carriers fly here from all over Europe and North Africa, with Ryanair (tel. 902-585-230) dominating the schedule. The C6 bus runs from the airport to the city every 20 minutes (fare 4.50€).

Nine trains a day connect with Valencia (trip time 1.5–2 hr.; fares 10€–35€). Sixteen trains per day come from Madrid (trip time 2–4 hr.). The RENFE office is at Estación Alicante, Avenida Salamanca (tel. 90-232-03-20).

Bus lines from various parts of the coast converge at the terminus, Calle Portugal, 17 (tel. 96-513-07-00). There is almost hourly service from Valencia (trip time 2.5 hr.). Buses also run from Madrid, a 5- to 6-hour trip.

To drive here, take the E-15 expressway south along the coast from Valencia. The expressway and N-340 run northeast from Murcia.

The main tourist information office at the train station (tel. 96-517-72-01) is open daily 10am‒2pm and 5‒8pm.
