99 Luftballons over Alpine -- Well, maybe not quite 99, but you can see at least a few dozen balloons launch near the Casparis Airport, 2 miles north of Alpine off Hwy. 118, during Labor Day weekend. The Big Bend Balloon Bash is 3 days of balloons and other aerial pursuits. Arrive before 9am to see the balloons, or go see them glow Saturday night.
