Ambato's nightlife is pretty tame. It picks up some on Thursday and through the weekend. The most popular nightclub in town is the Coyote Disco Club, Av. Bolívar 20-57 near Guayaquil (tel. 03/2822-424). This is a large club with loud music and dancing. A young crowd dominates Cervecería Búfalo, Olmedo 681 and Juan León Mera (tel. 03/2841-685). For a slightly more sophisticated scene, check out the Emperador Disco-Bar (tel. 03/2424-460), located in its namesake hotel.
If you're in a gaming mood, the casinos at the Hotel Ambato and Hotel Casino Emperador are good bets.
