Elizabeth Pointe Lodge

This three-story, Nantucket-style shingled beauty sits overlooking the beach on Amelia Island. Built in 1991, it has big-paned windows that look out from the comfy library (with stone fireplace) and a dining room to an expansive, wrap-around front porch and the surf beyond. Antiques, reproductions, and other smart touches lend the 20 oceanfront rooms in the main building a turn-of-the-20th-century cottage ambience. All have oversize tubs. The Ocean House Suites next door has four large guest rooms in a West Indies motif, and the two-bedroom, two-bathroom Miller Cottage is perfect for small groups. Rates include a Southern-style breakfast (the pecan pancakes are legendary), nightly beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres, beach chairs, and umbrellas.
