Top-range hotels are concentrated in the Jabal Amman district and West Amman. Taxis are the best way to get from the hotels to shopping and dining. The historic center has some bargain hotels, but have few amenities -- most don't have in-room Internet. High season is Eid ul Fitr, at the end of Ramadan, and Eid ul Azar, two months after Ramadan (a different time each year, but usually in fall or winter), July, August, Christmas, and New Year's. Amman also hosts many international conferences, which can impact accommodation availability.
