You can't beat the splendid location of this small, all-suites resort: right on Meads Bay beach. Six villas look out onto a flower-filled open courtyard; all of the 24 suites within have some kind of ocean view, but the one- and two-bedroom units in Villas 1 and 6 lie directly on the oceanfront, with unobstructed panoramic sea vistas. Carimar is the kind of cozy, friendly place that draws repeat guests year after year, and rates are gentle for beachfront Anguilla. It has no pool—but then again, the best pool in the world is steps away from your door. Nor does Carimar have a restaurant, but all suites come with full kitchens, and some of the island's best eateries are right next door (Blanchards, Jacala, and Straw Hat among them). Interiors are homey and comfortable, with tile floors, good mattresses, and rattan furniture; note that only the bedrooms have air-conditioning.
