At the peaceful upper end of Shoal Bay East, Serenity is a comfortable, secluded, and affordable alternative to the pricey resorts of the West End. This well-managed, 18-room resort resides in tropical gardens, with steps leading down from a wooden deck to the alabaster sands of Shoal Bay. The property has its own pretty restaurant/bar, serving an international menu sprinkled with local dishes like grilled crayfish, conch fritters, and Caribbean fish soup. You can also have lunch or tropical drinks at the resort's ramshackle beach bar on Shoal Bay; the sand has eroded somewhat, but the swimming and snorkeling are still fine. The spacious rooms and suites are pleasant indeed, each with a private balcony with garden or sea views, king-size beds, dark-wood and wicker furniture, and tropical prints; some have pitched ceilings and four-poster beds. Both the one- and two-bedroom suites come with fully equipped kitchens.
