Sometimes luxury is as much as about what you don't have as what you do have. Case in point: This singularly wonderful Barbudan resort, where rooms come without TVs, phones, radios, or even air-conditioning, and where vacations provide an immersion in the gracious, slo-mo Caribbean of old. Run by the same family since 1960, Coco Point has mastered the art of barefoot luxury. Here the coin of the realm is tranquility, relaxation, and the simple pleasures of the natural world. You stay in cottages just feet from some of the world's most gorgeous and least-trammeled beaches. You have at your disposal every watersports activity you could possibly desire, from paddleboarding to sailing to bonefishing the saltwater flats. You are attended by a warm and welcoming staff. A nightly cocktail hour gives you a chance to socialize with other guests, and a Saturday-night beach barbecue accompanied by dancing to a local steel band is about as raucous as it gets. Families are embraced here; this is an idyllic place for kids. Cottage rooms and freestanding cottages are outfitted in sunny tropical colors, high-quality bedding, and louvered windows for steady breezes—but again, if you don't expect marbled baths or hermetically sealed rooms, you'll be happy as a clam. Coco Point is an all-inclusive, with a no-tipping policy, so you don't even have to carry your wallet around. (By the way, you aren't completely off the grid; Coco Point has Wi-Fi both in the public areas and in the rooms.)
