Small, serene, and unpretentiously elegant, the Inn at English Harbour has boutique service down to a science. Everyone, not just Her Majesty, is treated royally here. With 19 tropical acres, the inn offers plenty of space and places to play, including a lovely white-sand beach (with hammocks stretched beneath shady palms) and a generously sized pool. But the British colonial–style rooms are so handsome—mahogany floors, big, canopied beds, louvered shutters, and private terraces or balconies—and so private that you may never come out to play. A lineup of mod-cons, including iPod docking stations and flatscreen TVs, keeps the digital generation in the swing. Of the inn's two restaurants, the Terrace is set in the site’s original colonial stone house. A complimentary water shuttle is on hand to take you to historic Nelson's Dockyard nearby.
