Legananny Dolmen
This renowned granite dolmen (Neolithic tomb) on the southern slope of Slieve Croob looks, in the words of one archaeologist, like “a coffin on stilts.” This must be one of the most photographed dolmens in Ireland, but only when you see it up close can you fully appreciate its awesome size, with a massive capstone that seems weightlessly poised on supporting uprights. The dolmen is signposted about halfway between Dromara and Castelwellan on the lower slopes of Slieve Croob Mountain, about 25 miles (40km) south of Belfast.
