It's a straight run on the Metro from Athens International Airport to Monastiraki Square, and the six-story Attalos is just a block away on busy Athinas Street. The staff is exceptionally helpful, and almost every time I stay here, I notice another computer has been added for guests to use in the lounge (where there is now free coffee on offer), or perhaps there's a new espresso machine at the breakfast buffet. In other words, the management is always adding thoughtful touches. The rooms here are simple, even plain, but the pillows and mattresses are good and firm and the shower is powerful. Half the rooms have balconies and half of those balconies have Acropolis views (610 has both Acropolis and extensive cityscape views). The roof garden bar also has sweeping. There's no restaurant, but delicious souvlaki and kebabs are steps away in Monastiraki Square. The Attalos often gives Frommer's readers a 10% discount.
