The Marble House, beloved of budget travellers, including many teachers, is on a quiet street about a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis. Lots of guests here remember when the Marble House was, putting it kindly, more than a tad basic. Now rooms are very comfortable, the garden is luxuriant, and the staff, as always, is very helpful. Recent renovations have produced shining new bathrooms, handy little fridges in each room, and several units with small kitchenettes. Stay here and you will have the illusion of being in your own little hideaway, not in an impersonal hotel. It's cash-only.
