This museum is a high-tech, hands-on learning center that young children find a real blast. Set in a Modernista building with an underground extension, the vast museum has permanent exhibitions, such as “The Flooded Forest.” This living slice of Amazonian rainforest has more than 100 species of animal and plant life, and kids are encouraged to pick up and touch frogs, spiders, and other fauna. The 3-D planetarium and Geological Wall are also major draws. The museum is somewhat distant from the usual tourist districts but can be reached on public transportation with a bit of a hike at the end of the Metro or bus line.
