Perhaps the biggest claim to fame for this very pleasant dowager hotel is that the Beatles stayed here when they played Barcelona in 1965. (Yes, you can book their suite.) The hotel stands behind a pair of pseudo-fortified towers, but inside the strange architecture resolves into an old-world atmosphere of antiques, fresh flowers, and formally attired staff. Most rooms are doubles, and they are spacious by Spanish standards and filled with walnut and chestnut burl furniture. Beds are comfortable, and each room has a workable desk. The neighborhood isn't loud, but the rooms are thoroughly soundproofed anyway.
