Casa Fuster

Barcelona’s heyday lives again in this deluxe setting, whose glossy, black-tiled, lobby invites you into a glamorous world. The stunning Modernista building, completed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner for the Fuster family in 1908, was reported at the time to be the city’s most expensive home. The in-house Café Vienés hosts one of city’s best jazz clubs on Thursday evenings and even if you’re not a guest you can swan in during the day for a stylish—and expensive—coffee and cake. The guestrooms are stylishly understated, with period-correct furnishings; private balconies in many open onto leafy Passeig de Gràcia. The location isn’t all that convenient for the old city, but if you’re looking for an uber-stylish base from which to explore the Barcelona’s Modernista architecture, Casa Fuster is the place.
